Breast Cancer Zumba Fundraiser Was a Wonderful Success

Pictured are most of the lovely ladies who attended the Breast Cancer fundraiser. In total, there were 33 dancing ladies over the 90 minutes.

Sandra Melchor

I held a Breast Cancer Research Fundraiser/Zumba Party on Oct. 26 at the Cottonwood Palo Verde Fitness Center. I was completely overwhelmed by all the ladies in attendance, their support, and the generous donations by our community. We raised $1,961 to support this important cause and to raise awareness of early detection for women and men. We danced for 90 minutes, we hooped and hollered, shared breast cancer journeys, supported those who are touched by breast cancer, and cheered the survivors. My heart was truly filled with joy and gratitude with the love, support, and friendship in our Sun Lakes community. I feel so blessed to live in our incredible community.

After dancing, we went over to the Cottonwood restaurant and enjoyed a much-deserved happy hour.

A huge shout-out to all the ladies and all the generous donations. All I can say is, “Wow!”

I teach Zumba dance on Mondays and Fridays at 12:15 p.m. at the Cottonwood Palo Verde Fitness Center. I teach Zumba Toning (Zumba-style dance with 1- or 2-pound weights) on Tuesdays and Thursdays at 9 a.m. Put your sneakers on, grab a water bottle, and meet me on the dance floor for fun and fitness.
