Chordaires Prepare for the Fall Season

Being a Chordaire isn’t all about work. Summer also provides time for Chordaires who stay here year-round to have fun. From the Colorado mountains to the cornfields of Iowa and beyond, the Chordaires Show Chorus worked through the Internet this summer to prepare for the new season. With new officers, new members and singing assignments, and a new show to plan, there has been plenty to do.

Our year runs from June 1 to May 31, so right before the group started scattering to the four winds, we elected officers for the new year and planned our budget. The new officers are President Gretchen Ohlgart, Vice President Janet Lewis, Secretary Linda Dreyer, Treasurer Alison Geislinger, and Membership Coordinator Linda Ryan.

Our whole chorus is preparing for our Spring 2024 show, “A Salute to the Music Men,” on Saturday, April 6, 2024. The show will feature music from songwriters and artists who helped shape popular music from Vaudeville to the present. Chordaires member Ann Buckheister stepped into the demanding job of show chair. Ann works with Director Marc Gaston, Assistant Director Libby Bender, and our whole chorus to coordinate the music, script, props, costumes, lights, and sound, ensuring it all is done right, on time, and within budget. Chordaires members Janet Lewis and Linda Ryan have already written the first draft of the script.

The Chordaires Show Chorus has begun to schedule performances during the holiday season with private groups and assisted living facilities. Also, we will be performing at the Oakwood Veteran’s Day Breakfast on Monday, Nov. 13. If you would like to schedule the Chordaires Show Chorus, The New Notes quartet or The Ambassadors octet, please email us at [email protected] and we will be in touch with you.

We are anxious to meet and greet our community at the Open Houses offered by the three Sun Lakes HOAs in the fall. The Open Houses are held in the morning on Oct. 7 for Cottonwood Palo Verde, Oct. 14 for Sun Lakes Country Club, and Oct. 14 for IronOaks. Please stop by and visit with us if you love coming to our shows or are interested in joining the Chordaires Show Chorus. If you miss us at the Open Houses, you can email us at [email protected] and our membership coordinator will be in touch with you.

The Chordaires Show Chorus extends our greatest thanks to Sandy Bocynesky for being our former show chair for the last 14 years. We still don’t know how she accomplished all that she did for us.
