Desert Navy Update

Richard Volpe

The Desert Navy resumes its 2022 program with our next meeting scheduled for March 18. We’re looking forward to a nice turnout. Typically, when available, we will have a guest speaker to participate with a presentation that is of interest to all our club membership. The Desert Navy meets on the third Friday of the month. Meetings are scheduled to start at 11 a.m. and are being held at the IHOP restaurant located off Arizona Avenue within the Target shopping area. All veterans who have been associated with the Navy, Marines, Coast Guard, and Merchant Marines are always welcome. It is a great opportunity to meet up with new friends and also possibly run into some old shipmates, or others you may have lost touch with over the years. Mark the dates on your calendars, as our meetings are held on a monthly basis that will run from September up until May. We do close down for the summer months with our normal scheduling; however, for those in need, we are always available.

In general at our meetings, whenever possible, we plan on inviting a guest speaker who provides us with not only a wealth of information, but advice and aids on how we can stay current with benefit availability and other programs and services that we may not be aware of. It’s an ever-changing world, and things that we may consider constant are always vulnerable to change without notice these days.

As a club, our doors are never closed for those in need. One of our club’s primary goals now is, and has always been, to provide support to those veterans who may be in need due to an unexpected accident or hardship. Our club maintains a storage facility that has a variety of medical supplies and equipment that can be obtained in a short amount of time for those in need of temporary or long-term support. For additional details regarding this or information on what we have readily available in our storage areas, feel free to call the number listed below. If you have any questions regarding the Desert Navy’s membership or would like additional information on the club’s activities, please feel free to give Rich Volpe a call at 480-802-2532. He and his staff have helped many in the past, and I’m sure he will be happy to talk to anybody in their effort to afford a better quality of life with something we may be able to provide. Have a safe and healthy new year.
