The Sun Lakes Garden Club is pleased to have Josh Waltemeyer as the featured speaker on Tuesday, Jan. 19. He’ll share information about protecting plants from frost and when to fertilize our citrus, as well as what plants to trim in January.

Josh’s father and uncle own Treeland Nursery in Mesa, and he has worked there for over 20 years. He started working there as a boy and got his degree in horticulture and nursery studies.

The meeting starts at 9:30 a.m., for socializing and greeting visitors, and the presentation starts at 10 a.m. The meeting ends around noon, and members are invited to gather for lunch across the street at the Sunset Grill inside the Sun Lakes Country Club. Masks are needed for the meeting, and our friendly greeter will take your temperature to ensure everyone’s safety.

The Sun Lakes Garden Club meets all year on the third Tuesday of the month. Members stayed connected through the summer months via Zoom computer meetings. Members are welcome from any city and any level of gardening experience. Visitors are always welcome, and you may decide to join us. Members receive a 10-page monthly newsletter with photos of members’ gardens and activities. Check out our website at www.SunLakesGardenClub.org.

Club memberships are only $20 per year, and a spouse or second member in the household is only $10 per year. Meetings are back at the Chapel Center (next door to the Sun Lakes All Faiths Community Church and across the street from the Sun Lakes Country Club) at 9230 E. Sun Lakes Blvd. N.
