Grief is a journey: Where are you on that journey?

Linda Gercken

Have you lost a loved one recently and just begun your journey of grief? Or has it been weeks, months or maybe years since you lost your loved one, and you still suffer from bouts of sadness? Grief is a journey with all kinds of twists and turns and unexpected obstacles. Sometimes it is difficult to see the light at the end of the road.

Wherever you are in the grief journey, it helps to share your feelings with others on the same path. If you are not good at sharing your feelings, then just learning how others process their sadness will help you understand you are not alone.

GriefShare is a non-denominational program and support group which has helped thousands across the nation to process their grief and move forward. One of the first things you learn about grief is that you are not “going crazy.” You will learn there are no set patterns of grief. And you will learn that everyone is unique in how they grieve.

Please join us and let us walk with you through your journey of grief. The 11-week class meets at the Sun Lakes United Methodist Church on Wednesdays from 1:00 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. in the Education Building. The cost is $15 which covers the cost of your workbook.

A new class is beginning on September 11 and ending on November 20. Pastor David Holling will be the facilitator with co-facilitators Suzan Bawolek and Linda Gercken. Register online at sunlakesumc.org or call the church office at 480-895-8766.
