Wow! Can you believe that it is fall again? It means slightly cooler temps for us here in Arizona. It is the time for children to return to school. It also means that we begin dealing with some seasonal environmental threats as the weather changes. And this year, we continue to deal with the many unknown factors of our current health crisis. Many lifestyle factors can also weaken our immune system, including stress, lack of sleep, exposure to toxicity, and poor nutrition.
How might we use essential oils to deal with the changes that fall brings?
Essential oils can help support healthy brain activity. For example, peppermint is a popular oil said to stimulate the mind to help support memory, focus, concentration, and mental performance. Simply by diffusing peppermint, you will be able to reap the benefits.
Citrus oils like lemon are very uplifting to the mind and body. Lemon, used aromatically, promotes physical energy and purification.
Many of us are looking for ways to promote feelings of calmness and relaxation as we deal with the day-to-day news. Lavender, cedarwood, or petitgrain are the oils of choice to help you to feel calmer and relaxed.
Of course, fall and winter are the times of the year we are concerned about environmental threats. Our immune system is an especially important part of overall health. When the immune system is compromised, the risk of getting sick increases significantly. We need to take proactive measures to enhance the body’s ability to protect itself.
* Diffuse essential oils regularly: Harmful organisms can be readily transmitted by coughing, sneezing, and nose blowing. Did you know that a single sneeze can transmit up to 100,000 contagious particles in the air? In turn, these airborne specks can be transmitted to others or land on open surfaces. Scientific study demonstrates that diffusion of essential oils can purify and cleanse the air.
* Use essential oils to clean surfaces: Frequently-touched surfaces such as door knobs, keyboards, cell phones, and grocery carts can be more harmful during certain times of the year. DoTerra’s On Guard cleaning products are a highly effective way to clean surfaces while preventing exposure to toxins.
For more information about how essential oils can help you as we go into fall and winter, join me for an Introduction to Oils online class which is scheduled for each Tuesday evening (Sept. 7, 14, 21, and 28) at 5:30 p.m. PDT. For those of you who prefer to have a one-on-one class, we can schedule that to suit your convenience.
