Russell W. Burcier Auxiliary to VFW Post 8053 in Sun Lakes installed new officers for the 2014-2015 program year. The installing officer was Past Auxiliary President Christa Marshall, a member of 8053. The new officers are President Betty Peer, Sr. Vice President Janice Cournoyer, Jr. Vice President Sandra Whittenberg, Secretary Ellen Bond, Treasurer Carolyn Laschinger, Chaplain Dorothy Eberle, Conductress Janae Kemery, Guard Dorothy Meek, Trustee No.1 Christa Marshall, Trustee No.2 Carol Eib, Trustee No. 3 Lenora Nelson, Historian Cheryl Thompson-Wyse and Patriotic Instructor Beverly Bell.

Nine members attended the Department (State) Convention held in early June. Auxiliary 8053 received recognition as follows: President, Treasurer and Chaplain of the year, first place in membership group for Cancer Aid and Research program and second place in membership group for Americanism, Membership, Scholarship, Veterans and Family Support and Youth Activities. The awards were received because of the work done by members in support of these programs. Auxiliaries were informed that the theme for the coming year is “Be a Voice for Our Veterans.”
