According to a recent study, group exercise with learning routines can actually reverse brain changes that occur due to aging. People in the study who did a variety of routines while working out had healthier white matter in a part of the brain linked with memory. Oddly enough, those who walked did not receive the same improvement. Why? Scientists believe that the combination of exercise, mental stimulation, and social engagement makes learning routines with group workouts a good choice for holding off the effects of aging.
