If you are new to the community or would like to spend some time on the golf course, why not join MOGA? Our Thursday games are a good way to meet some new friends. You don’t have to be a resident of IronOaks to join our group. We have over 380 active and handicap-only members with golfers at every level. MOGA has an event each Thursday throughout the year. Join MOGA and meet some new friends while playing a variety of team and individual games each week.

Upcoming Schedule for April MOGA games:

April 7: Member/Guest (6-6-6) Individual Stableford by Flight 7:30 a.m.; Individual Stableford by Flight noon

April 14: Cottonwood Home and Home at Oakwood 7:30 a.m.; Low Net by Flight noon

April 16: Cottonwood Home and Home at Cottonwood 7:30 a.m.

April 21: Beat the Pro Eddy (75% handicap)* 7:30 a.m.; Beat the Pro Eddy (75% Handicap) noon

April 28: Individual Low Net by Flight 7:30 a.m.; Individual Low Net by Flight noon

Dates followed by an asterisk are MOGA Appreciation Days with free beer and soda in the afternoon.

Game descriptions are on the MOGA website www.mogagolf.org, and results of each week’s event are posted on the website. Payouts to weekly participants have averaged 50%, so come out and win some Pro Shop chits.

Upcoming MOGA events include the Member/Guest on April 7 and the Cottonwood Home and Home the week of April 14.

The skins games going forward will be from the blue tees for single-digit handicaps. Higher handicaps can continue to play from the white tees.

Membership: Re-enrollment for 2022 MOGA membership is now underway. Join or enroll online, and you can use a credit card and save some money.

Getting to Know … MOGA Publicity, Steve Engler

Steve was born and raised in Indiana, and he and his wife Shanyn have one child, Jaime (Dusty), and one grandson, Gavin, who live in Gilbert, Ariz. He spent 37 years working for Siemens, Inc., with positions in Indiana, Kentucky, Mexico, California, and the Phoenix area. Steve retired in 2015 from Siemens as a procurement manager. His hobbies include golf, biking, and walking, and Steve has been a member of MOGA for several years.
