The Arizona summer is starting to wind down and we hear that in some parts of the country the leaves are turning and the temperatures are going down as well. Canada geese are being seen on local golf courses. That means we will soon be seeing the return of our winter golfers. The Welcome Back Luncheon will be coming up and that always sets the tone for our new golf season. Look for the date and sign up information on our x4 Golf website.
Golf Course Maintenance
Golf course maintenance and overseeding work is scheduled for the Ironwood Course from September 21 to October 11; the course will reopen on October 12. The three Oakwood Courses will close from October 5 to October 28 and will reopen on October 29. There will be a 21 day period following each reopening where golfers will be restricted to Cart Path Only play. The dates may change due to extreme weather conditions or other factors. To avoid problems check the website for changes in the schedule or speak to that day’s Game Manager.

It is my sad duty to report the passing of one of the 9’ers early members. Rein Mattes passed away a few weeks ago. To Rein’s wife Barbara and the Mattes family we offer our sincerest condolences on his passing.
The weather is cooling off and this is a good time to invite a golfing neighbor to play as a guest with the Niners. We allow two guest days per prospective member. Generating new members is the only way to keep the league strong. Toward that goal, the league has reserved a table on Saturday October 24, 2015, 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at the Oakwood Clubhouse for the Activities Open House. Board members will be there to provide information and recruit new members. We would welcome league members to assist at the table. If you have some free time on that day, let one of the board members know.
