The Palo Verde Ladies Golf Association (PVLGA) were happy to get back to playing golf after the course was closed for the first two weeks of October. Some of us didn’t know what to do with that much free time – we had to talk to our husbands! But we got after it in the later part of the month with two separate but related tournaments.
10/23. Even Holes. Only the scores made on the even holes counted toward the ladies’ final score, even though a full round was played. Someone could have a great day but not on the holes that counted. The winners were Flight 1: Carole Guild (25), Barb Almond and Mary Anne Lofquist (tied – 26.5); Flight 2: Jerry Jordan and Glenna Twing (tied – 29) and Diana Ridd (30); Flight 3: Rita Raymond (25), Elaine Isaacson (25.5) and Bonnie Kane (27.5).
10/30. Odd Holes. You got it! Only the scores made on the odd holes counted toward the final scores in this tournament, even though 18 holes were played. The winners were Flight 1: Tracy Rice (28), Donna Purcell (29.5) and Mary Nelson (30.5); Flight 2: Gwen Curtis (30), Anita Barber (30.5) and Julie Curran, Carole Guild and Jan Stuckey (tied – 31); Flight 3: Susie Buell (27), Rose Hames (28) and Margie Brandon and Beth Rodella (tied – 30.5); Flight 4: Carol Healy (27), Elaine Isaacson and Karen Ryan (tied – 32.5).
Thanks to the golf course supervisor and maintenance teams for making Palo Verde such a beautiful place to place to play golf.
