It’s really amazing!
The Palo Verde Men’s Golf Association remains active with events each Saturday morning despite the heat, despite the humidity rising from water-soaked fairways, despite the relentless, burning rays of the sun – conditions interrupted sporadically by the monsoons with their thunder and lightning, rain-drenching high winds and blinding sandstorms!
Sort of reminds us of our childhood years in the far north, when we slogged our way to and from school, on foot, for miles, uphill both ways, through deep snow, freezing winds and blinding blizzards… then went out to play until called to supper…
So we are, as usual, pleased to report the result of our members’ valiant efforts:
On Saturday, June 16, a Select-a-Drive 2 Best Ball contest was canceled due to rain, which hadn’t happened in these parts for a very long time.
On Saturday, June 23, a CMGA (Cottonwood) and the PVMGA Beat-the-Pro/Member event was held, using a Regular Scramble format. The Pro/Member’s score of 47.25 was bettered by a very large contingent of players, resulting in a modest reward for playing so well in the heat of the morning. The real reward was retiring to the coolness of the Grille where refreshing libations are served by the friendly staff!
On Saturday, June 30, a Regular Scramble was won with a score of 38.25 by David Florence, Don Hicks, Woody Neiman and Arnie Pinsly.
On Saturday, July 7, a 2 BB’s Net match was won by David Florence, Ken Pearson, Bob Mansfield and Jeff Martin with a score of 94.
Future morning events include:
July 28 – 3-2-1 (P)
August 4 – Team Stableford (P)
August 11 – 2 BB’s Net (P)
August 18 – Scramble
