Due to the untimely and very sad passing of our much-liked Publicity Chairman Jim Roberts this summer, and because of the very disrupted fall golf season, I think that it is best if rather than listing the winners of the fall tournaments and events, that we simply kiss 2020 goodbye and look forward to a new and improved 2021.

As you might well imagine, all of our usual social events were canceled last summer, fall, and winter, including the fabulous PVMGA Holiday Party, as well as the smaller, but much enjoyed golf event specials. We all miss the great pizza and beer patio parties and sincerely hope that the pandemic will be squelched with the now available vaccines.

Jan. 2 saw our first Member/Member event. The format was a 2 Man, 1 Best Ball Net with the team of Myron Irwin and Terry Denefe taking first place in Flight 1, with a net 51. The Flight 2 winning team was Greg Lorimor and Richard Hawkes with a net 52, and Flight 3 saw a four-way tie with Ron Cox and Len Lutostanski, Danny Jetton and Arnie Pinsly, Bill Smith and Dennis Grendahl, and Jeff Martin and Keith Wilson, sharing a net 54.

At the time of this writing, upcoming tournaments and events in January will be a 2 Net Best Ball, Ace of Aces Qualifier, Presidents Cup-Round #1; Presidents Cup-Round #2, and, lastly, a 2 Man Team—teams selected by the Pro Shop.

Besides losing our dear friend Jim Roberts this summer, I’m also sad to report on the passing this winter of Vaughn Torguson, a great personality and one of our longtime members. Rest in peace, gentlemen.
