Republican Club April 12 Meeting

The Sun Lakes Republican Club will feature “Censorship, or Whatever Happened to Free Speech?” at its monthly meeting on Wednesday, April 12, at 6:30 p.m. in the Navajo Room of the Sun Lakes Country Club, 25601 S. Sun Lakes Blvd., Sun Lakes, AZ 85248. The public is invited. Our mission is “education for an informed electorate.”

Our first speaker will be Arizona State Senator J.D. Mesnard who will address the current concerns of our community. What are the prospects for inflation-cutting measures in the current General Assembly? If we, as citizens, are forced to tighten our belts, shouldn’t our government tax bills be required to go down instead of up? Who controls the children—the parents or the state? Are the schools accountable to the parents who are paying for the school services through their taxes, or is it appropriate for school employees to try to divorce the child from her family? Should parents decide the appropriate school for each of their children, or should the state force the children to attend the government’s choice?

Do we still have liberty to follow the eternal God of our religious consciences, or do we now have one required government religion to worship only the dictates of the ever-changing secular state? What are the prospects for inflation-fighting, pro-small business, pro-family, pro-religious liberty legislation in the current legislative session? Will we be allowed the choice to listen to both sides of an issue to decide our opinions for ourselves? Or are we destined to be a cancel culture, with only one—later found to be erroneous—option allowed to be shared?

Our additional speaker was unconfirmed at press time. Please watch our member emails for updates on this and future programs.
