Sun Lakes Sew-N-Sews (SNS) members continue to have a fun time at their meetings! Jan Maresh presented an inspiring program on the very on-trend topic of upcycling clothing. As a member of the SNS Garment Gusto group, Jan encouraged the Garment Gusto gals to create their own upcycled garments to share at the meeting. The membership was wowed and impressed by Jan’s creations and those of the runway models. Whether you are new to garment sewing or experienced, this group of sewists is fun, encouraging, supportive, and ready to help with any garment project. But they are just one of many opportunities to explore your interests, start a new hobby, or make friends with fellow SNS members. Recently, the Cricut group did glass etching. The embroidery group planned a potluck to accompany their meeting where sharing is the key to new ideas.
As an organization, there are many opportunities to encourage creativity and lifelong learning with our members. The Special Interest Groups and Friendship Groups meet monthly. Cathy Climp and Sue Boucher planned the fun April SNS meeting, showcasing some of the Special Interest Groups, the Friendship Groups, and new class offerings. So many opportunities to hang out with friends, learn something new, and get out of the house! Those members who brave the Arizona summer can participate at Summer Camp Zippity Do Dah. The threads and fabric will flow, and sewing machines will roar. The cool Sewing Room will be filled with laughter, friends, and creative vibes.
Sun Lakes guests are welcome to attend two meetings. As a guest, you will see all the benefits offered by this organization. As a member, you will be able to join in all the fun of the summer camp, too. New members are enrolled at each meeting.
Sew-N-Sews meets the second Wednesday of each month, September to May, in the Navajo Room at Sun Lakes Country Club, 25601 E. Sun Lakes Blvd., in Sun Lakes. Meetings begin at 1 p.m. They always look forward to making new friends and will find a chair and new friend for you.
Sew-N-Sews can be reached by emailing them at [email protected], or come to a meeting.
