Roger Edmonds, Sun Lakes Community Theatre’s (SLCT) education liaison, was excited to present a $1,000 scholarship award to Abigayle Groves, a graduating senior from Chandler High who plans to major in theater arts in college. Abby performed two monologues and wowed the membership with a song at the April general meeting.

SLCT supports local theater arts teachers and students each year as part of its mission to encourage dramatic, musical, and technical learning in schools. “Building and nurturing talent is an important part of giving back,” said Edmonds, “and we want to help prepare these kids to become a part of the excellent professional theaters in the Phoenix area.”

Each year SLCT invites students from CUSD high schools to perform in Sun Lakes, and the results are always amazing. The talent at the local level far exceeds expectations every time. Feb. 12, 2025, will be the next time the high schoolers entertain in the San Tan Ballroom. The public is invited. Check it all out at www.slctinfo.com.
