Feeling physically or emotionally anxious or stressed about things going on in your life or in the world around you? Perhaps a Sound Healing/Meditation class can help!
What Is It and How Can it Help?
Sound Healing is a therapeutic practice that has been around for over 2,000 years, using sound as a tool to promote healing, balance, and well-being. The tones produced by the bowls can bring your brain into alpha and theta states, which are linked into deep relaxation, creativity, and meditation. Deeper tones can also touch delta waves, promoting healing, sleep, and restoration.
What Does a Sound Bowl Healing Meditation Class Look Like?
Sound Healing classes can look different from instructor to instructor and from setting to setting. In IronOaks Fitness Center, Eileen Marfe teaches a combination class. Participants may sit in a chair or bring a mat, blanket, and pillow and lie on the floor, whichever is most comfortable to the individual. For the first 20 to 25 minutes, a meditation script is read aloud by the instructor while deep relaxation music is playing in the background. For the next 30 to 35 minutes, the instructor plays the seven sound bowls, bringing the participants into a deeper state of relaxation and healing.
Classes are available on Tuesdays at 2:00 p.m. and are free with an IronOaks Fitness Center membership or for a low rate of $7 per class. Come experience total relaxation!
