A gnome by the name of O’Shaunessey McKenna appeared at the Tumbleweed Park Barbeque Cookoff on Saturday, November 7. What with his loopy hat and expressive eyes, a photographer just had to get a quick shot of him. The little gnome was precious and Saturday was a great day for the public to get out and enjoy weather, food and fun.
A small representation from Spirit of the Desert met on Saturday, November 9 with the planning committee of the Arizona Gourd Society for the upcoming gourd festival.
Members were brought up to date at the November meeting on plans for the Wuertz Gourd Festival to be held in Casa Grande the weekend of February 12-14 which is the second full weekend of February, a change from past years.
Election of officers will be held at the meeting on December 17. If any member is interested in serving and has not yet put their name forth, please call Pat Richards and ask for your name to be put on the ballot.
Our Christmas Party will be held on December 17 in the Arts and Crafts Room of Sun Lakes Country Club from 4:00-6:00 p.m. Members will be sharing their gourd Christmas decorations by way of our fun game of choosing and robbing someone else’s gourd.
