With movement, there is improvement! Did you know that the gentle martial art of tai chi can build strength and ease symptoms? Tai chi can be a great indoor movement to enjoy any time of year, but especially during our hot summers and, at the same time, meet like-minded friends in Sun Lakes and share healthy lifestyle ideas.

Like physical therapy, tai chi uses functional movements to increase strength, balance and flexibility. One example is a sequence that includes shifting weight from one foot to the other while slowly moving the arms. Mayo Clinic and Harvard Medical have long recommended tai chi as a low-impact workout that is gentle on the joints. This slow, gentle practice has been shown to increase lower body range of motion in people with rheumatoid arthritis (RA) as well as improve fibromyalgia.

Join us for Easy and Gentle Tai Chi at Sun Lakes Country Club Mirror Room at 25601 N. Sun Lakes Blvd. in Sun Lakes each Thursday. This mixed-level class is from 10:45-11:45 a.m. New attendees are welcome anytime, and the class is open to the public. Please note, we will not have class on July 6 and 18. The cost is $5 per class. All ages and abilities can enjoy the practice seated or standing. Parking is available on east side of country club for direct access into Mirror Room.
