On Oct. 20, the Sun Lakes Garden Club speaker will be Diane Eddy, the owner of Global Tea Mart, a local specialty tea company located in the Fulton Promenade in Chandler (on Alma School Road, across the street from Safeway). She is a certified tea specialist. She credits her interest in exquisite teas to Agatha Christie’s tea-drinking detectives. About 25 years ago, while reading the adventures of Miss Marple and Hercule Poirot, she began to wonder about their very British habit of drinking tea. This was the beginning of her course of study with tea experts throughout the world. Diane loves sharing stories about tea, as well as introducing people to the taste and nuances of fine tea. She’s bringing hot tea canisters and sharing samples with the members (in disposable sample cups). We’ll also have biscotti and tea cookies while we sip. (Members will be wearing masks except when sipping during the social time from 9:30 to 10 a.m. before the meeting starts. We are also using a touchless thermometer to confirm that no one has a fever.)
The Sun Lakes Garden Club meets all year on the third Tuesday of the month. Members stayed connected through the summer months via Zoom computer meetings. Members are welcome from any city and any level of gardening experience. Visitors are always welcome, and you may decide to join us. Members receive a 10-page monthly newsletter with photos of members’ gardens and activities. Check out our website, SunLakesGardenClub.org.
