One of most popular classes of the Silver program at the Rock, Gem & Silver Club is Wire Wrap Bracelets! A little-known fact is that wire wrap is one of the best bargains in the Silver Club.
Sometimes we “wire wrappers” are accused of not being “wrapped too tight,” ha ha, but that’s exactly what we want you to think of when you join in the fun of wire wrap bracelets! In fact, the tighter and closer together and more evenly spaced your wire weave IS means the more professional and classic end result you’ll achieve!
Master Jewelry Craftsman Henry Huss instructs this easy to learn, informative and creative class each Monday morning from 9:00 a.m. to noon in the Oakwood Shop. All you have to do to join the fun and meet your new friends is come to our monthly meeting, join the Rock, Gem & Silver Club and then take this class. NOTE: there are no prerequisites, so this can be your very first class, and soon you’ll be weaving your own wire into a stunning bracelet.
Wire wrap is very popular with many of the Sun Lakes ladies because they do not have to use the hot fire torches to solder (think weld) the silver the way other silver classes do. Actually, all you have to do is gently weave the easily-bendable wire without any fire or torch whatsoever!
First, you begin by weaving a band of thin wire metal in one straight, long strip. As that part is finished, you’ll next be bending and molding the bracelet around a mandrel so as to fit the exact size you need for your own wrist.
Many of these wire wrap bracelets are first completed with inexpensive wire such as copper, antique bronze and gold-filled wires of various thicknesses. Later, you may wish to graduate up to wire wrapping a bracelet with solid sterling silver (think a little more $) or maybe even solid 14k gold (think a LOT more $$$$).
The Rock, Gem & Silver Club is one of the oldest and largest clubs here in Sun Lakes with a current membership of over 162 members. Everyone seems to want to meet new friends and get in on the fun. Meet with us every third Monday of the month at 10:00 a.m. in the Navajo Room of the Sun Lakes Country Club – Monday, March 19, to be exact. Join with an annual membership, then sign up for the Wire Wrap Bracelets class for $20 plus materials with Instructor Henry Huss, 480-895-5647.
