The Sun Lakes Jewish Congregation adult education program has its first activities for 2022 on March 8 and 15, with a two-part seminar entitled “The Separation of Church and State … What Happened?” The seminars will be held in the Chapel Center from 1 to 2:30 p.m. on both dates. The sessions will be led by SLJC Rabbi Dr. Irwin Wiener and Rev. Marvin Arnpriester, Senior Pastor at Sun Lakes Methodist Church.
The March 8 seminar will focus on the intent and history of the efforts to separate church and state from 1776 to 1940. The second session will cover 1940 to the present day. This topic, although a hallmark of the U.S. Constitution, is misunderstood by many citizens. This interdenominational examination of a vital aspect of American democracy should be of interest to all.
