It’s time again: Sun Lakes Breakfast Lions’ Spaghetti Dinner

It’s time again for the Sun Lakes Breakfast Lions’ Spaghetti Dinner on Saturday, October 17, 2015, from 4:00 until 7:30 p.m. in the Arizona Room of the Sun Lakes Country Club.

What’s it all about?

To start, delicious food; spaghetti, meatballs, rolls, salad, dessert, coffee and iced tea. Plus the bars will be open if you prefer something a little stronger.

Then there will be the Raffle and Silent Auction. Here you will find more than 40 items to bid on and another 40 plus items to put your raffle tickets to good use.

But the most important part is the money being raised to support many local and international charities! The Sun Lakes Breakfast Lions Club is well known for the contributions that it makes to these charities, such as Neighbors Who Care, the Community Assistance Program (CAP), Guide Dogs of the Desert, Camp Tatiyee, Lions Vision Center and Arizona Quilts— the list goes on. One of the biggest contributions goes, deservedly, to VFW Post 8053 to help support their outreach to both past and present veterans through Vets Stand Down and other programs.

It is with great pride and pleasure that we once again dedicate this spaghetti dinner to that cause.

By the way, we will be collecting slightly worn or new jeans at the door for the vets. Bring in a pair of jeans and receive a free raffle ticket.

At our last dinner we served approximately 600 meals. We are hoping to do more this time. So purchase your tickets from any Breakfast Club Lion or VFW member or at the front desk of the Sun Lakes Country Club for a mere $10 in advance or $11 at the door.

It’s a great meal, a fun time and supports so many wonderful charities! See you there! And thanks!

As for other Breakfast Lions News

At our last meeting we were honored to receive a donation from the family of George Greenwood who passed away recently in Wisconsin. Chris Greenwood presented the donation on behalf of himself, JoAnn Greenwood (both Honorary Members) and Beth (Greenwood) Young and Don Young (both members). Our condolences and appreciation go out to the family.

Football time is here and once again the Breakfast Lions are hosting a football scoring pool. The donation is $10 with 16 chances of winning $50 1st place, $30 2nd place and $15 3rd place possibly winning every week. (High scores from two pre-selected teams on your card win and checks are automatically sent to the winning holders). To make a donation and take a chance, contact any Breakfast Lions Club member or call 480-242-4356.

If you have spare time on your hands and would like to give back something to the community, the Breakfast Lions Club is a good place to start.
