News from IronOaks at Sun Lakes: Message from the President

Joe D’Amore, IronOaks Board President

Hope everyone had an enjoyable Valentine’s Day. I know I had way too much chocolate but, thankfully, I did not go into sugar shock. Hope you all made it through as well. And haven’t we been having some great weather! If you’re a golfer like I am, then you know it’s been perfect golf weather almost every day. That’s why we live here, isn’t it?

Here in IronOaks, March is certain to go down as a month for great Billboard concerts. We’re having five of them in March. We kick it off on March 2 with the Diana Ross tribute, and more big entertainment names follow that concert. On March 9 we will have the Alabama tribute, and on March 16 there will be the Bee Gees tribute. On March 23 there will be a tribute to several great bands: Journey, Kansas, Toto, Styx, and REO Speedwagon. The Brits don’t want to be left out, so on March 30 the concert will be a tribute to Britain’s finest, The Beatles. Get your tickets soon, because our concerts have been selling out quickly.

Team Trivia is alive and well and is played on Mondays in the Oakwood ballroom. The game starts at 6 p.m. with the doors opening at 5 p.m. On occasion, we’ve had to add extra tables and chairs because Team Trivia night has become very popular. And FYI, the food menu has been revised, and it’s great.

Open Mic now happens twice a month—on the second and fourth Tuesdays at 5 p.m. in our Grill on the Green restaurant in Ironwood. A great venue and a great menu there as well. Seats fill up pretty quickly, since these events have also become very popular. Another word to the wise—get there a bit early.

Into genealogy? Then attend our S.H.I.N.E. Genealogy class on March 9. Or maybe you’re just looking for some new items for your house, in which case, plan to roam around IronOaks on March 19, because that’s when we will be having our community garage sale. Please drive, park, and walk safely if you do attend.

On March 17 everyone is Irish, and I love to wear green that day, even though I am an Italian American. If you want to celebrate with a special meal, our Stone & Barrel restaurant will be having a St. Patrick’s Day Special. So, make your reservation for that special event before it’s all booked up. And let’s not forget that March 19 is St. Joseph’s Day, which is special to us Italian Americans. I love to have the Italian pastry, Zeppole San Giuseppe, that day. I hope the Sicilian Butcher in Chandler still offers them.

That’s all I have for now. Stay safe out there and enjoy everything all of our Sun Lakes communities offer.
