Take the Lifelong Learning Challenge this Spring!

If you want an interesting way to challenge yourself, a New Adventures in Learning membership will keep your mind sharp and engaged with a wide variety of topics in different class formats that are designed specifically for adults who are interested in lifelong learning. Classes in history, current events, science, technology, the arts and literature, and other areas will introduce you to new ideas or expand your knowledge of a familiar topic. Plus, you will have the opportunity to meet neighbors and make new friends through in-person classes.

Registration for the not-for-profit organization’s spring semester began the third week of January for classes that are scheduled February through April. Because new classes begin almost weekly, registration remains open throughout the semester into April.

Here is just a glimpse into one of our new upcoming classes:

Basic Italian

The Italian program at New Adventures was inspired by Vincenza Heisler. Basic Italian and Italian Culture classes will be offered this spring by Michael Buscaglia, Gene Lariviere, and Henry Silberblatt.

Basic Italian will instruct students how to read, write, understand, and speak Italian. We will use the book Italian Made Simple, by Cristina Mazzoni. This course is for beginners. This class is being offered in person at the Sun Lakes Center in a “roundtable” format.

For details about all our spring semester classes and our volunteer presenters, go to the New Adventures website, www.newadventures.info.

New Adventures is affiliated with Chandler-Gilbert Community College (CGCC). Annual membership is $60, and the semester administration fee is $20 for each semester you enroll in classes. There is no charge per class, so your dues and semester fee allow you to take as many classes as you wish at no additional cost. Also, when you become a member of New Adventures, you become a student of CGCC and are eligible for student discounts on many college and community activities.

Classes are held at the CGCC Sun Lakes Center, located at the corner of Alma School and Riggs Roads in Sun Lakes.
