Zumba and Zumba Toning Classes

Sandra Melchor

Zumba takes the “work” out of workout, by mixing lowintensity and highintensity moves for an intervalstyle, calorieburning dance fitness party. Once the Latin and World rhythms take over, you’ll see why Zumba classes are often called exercise in disguise. Super effective? Check. Super fun? Check and check.

Zumba Dance is a total workout, combining all elements of fitnesscardio, muscle conditioning, balance and flexibility, boosted energy and a serious dose of awesome each time you leave class.

This dance class features high and lowintensity intervals that help improve cardiovascular fitness while also enhancing coordination, agility, and to some degree, strength through the application of beginneraccessible choreography.

You don’t need any special dance skills to succeed in Zumba classes so just dance, let go, and have fun. If you’re looking for an addictively fun, highenergy group dance workout set to upbeat music, Zumba is a great one to try.

Put your sneakers on, grab your water bottle and meet me on the dance floor.

Zumba Dance classes are Monday and Friday, 12:15 to 1:15 p.m., at the Cottonwood/Palo Verde Fitness Center. Class fee is $5 drop in or $20 for 5 classes.

Zumba Toning is a dynamic fitness program that combines dance and strength training, using light weights to enhance muscle engagement and sculpt the body.

Zumba Toning is a variation of the popular Zumba dance fitness program, specifically designed to incorporate resistance training into the workout. Participants use light weights during the class, which adds an element of strength training to the traditional dance movements. This combination allows for a full-body workout that targets specific muscle groups, including the arms, core, and lower body.

Dance and strength training: Zumba Toning blends rhythmic dance moves with toning exercises, creating a fun and engaging atmosphere. The weights provide resistance, which helps to build muscle strength and endurance while participants dance to upbeat music.

Targeted muscle engagement: The use of weights allows participants to focus on specific muscle groups, enhancing coordination and balance while improving overall fitness levels.

Zumba Toning—Zumba moves with one or two pound weights—is at Cottonwood/Palo Verde Fitness Center every Tuesday and Thursday, 9 to 10 a.m.

Cost is $5 per class or $20 for 5 classes.

Come enjoy upbeat music, dancing, toning muscles, and fun. My goal is to leave you smiling and sweating!
